Our History
Tony Hulme Sr. and Randy Sweeney are the heart of Hulme and Sweeney. Their shared commitment to craftsmanship, careful detail, and a genuine love for fine pianos guides everything the company does.
Piano service requires depth of knowledge and years of hands-on work. The team brings more than four decades of experience to tuning, voicing, regulation, repair, refurbishing, and restoration.
Tony Hulme Sr. has been caring for pianos throughout Connecticut and beyond since the late 1960s. He studied Piano Technology at the North Bennet Street School in Boston from 1964 to 1966, earning his diploma before launching his own piano service and rebuilding shop in 1967.
His partnership with Randy Sweeney proved a natural fit. In 2003 they formed Hulme and Sweeney, offering expert tuning, voicing, regulation, repairs, rebuilding, and the sale of quality pre-owned pianos from makers such as Steinway, Mason & Hamlin, Baldwin, Kawai, Yamaha, and others.
Today, their workshop is filled with pianos at different stages of restoration, each receiving the care and precision that define the company’s work.
