Our History
Tony Hulme Sr, Randy Sweeney and Tony Hulme Jr. are the core of Hulme and Sweeney. Our philosophy of attention to detail and passion for great pianos defines the company’s approach.
Piano service (tuning, voicing, regulation, repair and refurbishing) takes years of experience to perfect. Hulme and Sweeney have been in business for over 40 years.
Tony Hulme Sr. has been working on pianos in Connecticut and beyond since the late 1960’s. He attended the Piano Technology program at the North Bennet Street School in Boston in 1964 & 1965 and was awarded a diploma in 1966. He then started his own piano service and refurbishing business in 1967.
He found the perfect partner in Randy Sweeney. Together they founded Hulme and Sweeney in 2003 providing tuning, voicing, regulation, repairs rebuilding and sales of pre-owned piano including Steinway, Mason & Hamlin, Baldwin, Kawai, Yamaha and many others.
Tony Hulme Jr. later joined the team and is an expert craftsman. In our shop, we have many pianos in various stages of being rebuilt
